How do you cash a check without a bank account?

I've found that banks won't cash a cashier's check. What?? So what if you don't have a bank account and live thousands of miles away from the bank the check was drawn on? How do you cash your check without paying an exorbitant fee?

How do you cash a check without a bank account?
With an ID you can go to a cashing place (where you will be charged a small fee) or you can deposit it in a family's bank account and have them give you the money
Reply:need more info. what bank are you using? try opening a free checking.
Reply:If you're receiving checks, it's time to get a bank account. You only have to tie up $25.00 and it brings you into the human race.
Reply:depending on the type of check you could probably go to a check cashing place or some major grocery stores and cash there
Reply:1) Ask a friend to cash it for you.

2) We have supermarkets in the area that'll cash checks for you. Do you?
Reply:You sign it over to someone else who has one and that will about do it!!!
Reply:Go to one of those Vcom machines at 7-elevens.
Reply:you have to find a check cashing place. And you probably will pay a fee. If it is not a flat fee, it will be a percentage. Now a days, you can get free checking accounts...if you have a steady job, you can direct deposit, and the bank will waive all service fees. If you don't have a job, then you might want to think about finding a friend, or even a parent, that you can sign the check over to and let them take it out of their bank.
Reply:You can mail the check to your bank and then withdraw money from your ATM.
Reply:There are places, for a fee.
Reply:Open an account? Or some places like Safeway will cash certain checks for a small fee.
Reply:endorse it to someone who does have a bank account and have them deposit it in their account, or find a local branch of the bank it is drawn on , doesn't have to be the exact branch
Reply:For not having your own account, you will pay the exorbitant fees. A cashier's check should be cashable anywhere. Check out a local bank - they will be cheaper than any grocery store or gas station that has that inviting sign that says "Checks Cahsed Here!!"
Reply:Try a check cashing place. Does the bank it was drawn on have "sister" banks that will cash the check? Look into that.
Reply:cashier's check.......bank the check is drawn on is thousands of miles away.......

lemme guess, someone contacted you through email and asked for your assistance in getting some money out of the country. they gave you the cashier's check, and after you deposit/cash it, you are to keep a percentage for yourself and send the rest back to them or to a third party.

I'm willing to bet that the check is about as good as a deed proving ownership of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Reply:grocery store and pay 15$
Reply:Publix, Amscott, 7-11 machine
Reply:You get a friend to cash it for you through their account. You sign the check over to the friend, he deposits it, and then once the check clears, he withdraws the cash and furnishes it to you.
Reply:go to the bank the check is from, then have 2 forms of id

or go to a check cashing place, they take like 3% or so

get a bank account, many advantages
Reply:open an account, wait a day and withdrawl and close account.
Reply:Sign the check over to a friend with a bank account. Let it clear, and have him give you the money.
Reply:Any check cashing place

Some supermarkets do it also
Reply:I guess you'll have to go open a bank account somewhere and open it with that check.
Reply:you might just have to get one or go to those check cashing places
Reply:open a bank account but make sure its not one of those phony checks from Nairobi or certain sweepstakes deals cause you will be in deep poop
Reply:there is something called a check cashing place what they do is they take your check cash it and then they take a certain percent out of it
Reply:get an account or go to a check cashing place, but it's going to cost you
Reply:you either drive thousands of miles to the bank it is from or you don't cash it. If the bank does not have a branch in your area then it is difficult. I assume it is made out to you. You can open an account or you can call the bank it came from and ask them how you are supposed to cash it. It is something to think about when you are accepting payment for something.
Reply:Try another branch of the same bank that it was drawn on. I would imagine that they would do it for free. If not, your best bet would be to go to MoneyTree or some place like that and pay the fee.
Reply:Find a cash checking store, like a pawn shop, or some grocery stores will cash checks for up to $300.00. Or sign it over to someone you know that has an account, and have them cash it for you. Or you could open an account with a bank and deposit the money in there, and use it after it clears in a couple days. Good luck
Reply:If the check is computer printed you should be able to cash it at a Wal-mart store for $3.00. If it is handwritten then this may prove to be more difficult. Call to confirm this before you go there.

Another option would be to call the company that issued the cashier's check - explain your problem to them. They may have an affiliate in your area that will be able to cash the check for a fee.

Another option would be to ask someone with an account to deposit it and give you the money. (Their bank will probably put a hold on the check).

I hope you are able to get your money soon! Best wishes!
