How much spending cash do I need for a 4 day carnival cruise to mexico?
For the four day cruise on the Paradise, first consider the charges that are going to end up on your Sail %26amp; Sign card. You'll have tips of $10 per person per day, so they'll either take a cash deposit when you check in, or attach charges to a debit or credit card.

Carnival uses a cashless system, so theoretically, you won't need any cash, even for drinkiing. They will sign this to your card. Drinks are decently priced, but if you are going to be drinking heavily, this could amount to a hundred per person each day.

Keep in mind you are allowed to bring one bottle of wine per person onto the ship, and there will be one night where drinks are served free at the Captains cocktail party.

If you're gambling, you'll need cash, however you can also obtain it by using your Sign %26amp; Sail card at the slot machines for a fee.

Depending on what you're doing in Mexico, you may need some cash for the bars and souvenier shops. Many of them are Cash Only.

Finally, room service is free (and delicious!) on the ship, however it's courteous and expected to tip the person bringing you the food. I suggest one or two dollars. We bring about $20 for room service throughout our cruises.

Have a great time!
Reply:One thing you may consider is the new tax incentive by Mexico's government that started in June for Americans traveling to Mexico by air or sea. You can get a VAT tax (sales tax) refund on goods bought in Mexico excluding food and hotel which can be redeemed at special kiosks.
Reply:I was thinking about $1000 minimum. You have to figure the drinks (which are not cheap) the gambling, if you do it, the souvenirs once you get to port and any incidentals, you would be safe bringing minimum of $1000.00 but probably a little closer to $1400 would be what I would bring. A lot of places do take debit cards at the destination cities as well as travelers checks too. Have fun and remember whatever you don't spend you can bring home! :)
Reply:Figure $100.00 per person, per day. About $800.00
