Is Cash or charge a better way to avoid overspending?

Do you prefer to use cash or do you charge for your purchases? What is the best way to avoid overspending?

I only use cash or a debit card. Credit cards turn into huge debt VERY easily. If you get the amount that is okay to spend out in cash at the beginning of the week, it's a very tactile reminder not to go overboard. It's also a lot harder to gloss over a hundred dollar purchase when you're counting out twenties than just handing them the card.
Reply:with credit card you can so go over your limit and since you can pay it all back later its easier to get into debt...with my debit card its easy to hand over my card, but it just sucks if you dont keep track of how much funds you have in your bank account and overdraw, you get a overdraft fee which sucks...cash is easier bc you can set a budget and when you purcahse items you can see how much money you have left

Reply:If you are good at keeping up with your purchases then a debit card would be ok to use. If you are not good at keeping track of purchases with your debit card you should try using cash instead.
Reply:One does not have reason to over spend. Whether it is cash or through credit card. One should visualize the importance of buying what he intends to. If it is absolutely necessary then only one should buy otherwise avoid buying.
Reply:Cash. Too much credit card debt in America. Budget your spending limit and once you have spent that amount then stop.
