Can you cash credit card checks or are they only to pay others?

I would like to use one of my credit card checks to get some cash is that possible. I know it may not be the wisest money strategy but i need the cash. Thanks

Can you cash credit card checks or are they only to pay others?
Yes.....you can. However, do not be lured into using those checks on a frequent basis. Remember, you will be paying a finance charge on that money. Pay it off as soon as you can! Young people often thing it's free money.... BUT it's not! It's borrowed......Protect yo;ur credit at all costs.
Reply:yes, just make it out to yourself but as you know the interest is high.
Reply:you can deposit them in your checking account. Just write the check out to yourself.
Reply:You can't cash them. In order to get cash, you have to get a pin # and have the available balance for cash from the card.

Another option is to pay a large monthly bill with the check and use the cash from the bill.
Reply:Be VERY VERY VERY VERY careful using those checks. I worked for a credit card company (anonymous) for a year and a half. You really want to read the offer clearly and at least twice before even considering using them. Yes, you can use the checks just as regular checks. But watch for the APR and the length of the promotion. You may be better off waiting until you get paid. I suggest if the offer isn't for 0% for a year or longer, DO NOT USE them!!!!! Trust me! For example if you use the checks today for $50 with an APR of 3% or more, you will end up paying more than $50 just for using the checks!
Reply:Some cards allow you to get cash, like Discover. I've never tried getting cash back on a credit card from a POS machine at the register.

(When ever you get a cash advance on credit, you pay a higher interest rate, usually 24%.)
