How should I manage my cash conversion from pounds to Thai Baht?

Obviously I want the best exchange rate but security is also a consideration. Ideally I would withdraw pocket money from a cash machine as I need it. I will be spending time on Koh Tao island.

How should I manage my cash conversion from pounds to Thai Baht?
no problem, best to use atms, for me the best card is from nationwide,as there is no charge for the use.
Reply:i always use my eftpos card my bank told me their charges are less then visa although its best to have a standby card as well. before going to any of the smaller islands its best to check if it has atm machines. have a great trip
Reply:We did it at the airport when we got there...got a great rate both ways and it was easy. You are also correct about the cash withdrawl...when you need cash, the machines will give you the great rate and the machines (in Bangkok at least) are in English!
Reply:My bank, Lloyds TSB charge about 2.40 for every transaction ( about $4.80 or 163 baht ). PLEASE NOTE: there have been warnings here over the last couple of weeks about bogus keypads being fixed to some atm machines. The advice is, that if the keypad feels soft when you press in your PIN, cancel the transaction immediately and preferably before you put in your full PIN number. People unfortunate enough not to have noticed have found withdrawals from their accounts by these crooks, but in most cases, the bank's are standing the amounts ( but they are not obliged to do so ).
Reply:tuxedo pre paid credit cards. or post office pre paid cards..

top up in england and draw what you want from atm machines, you can draw upto 200 pounds per day.in the local currency.

they also give you the locations of all the atm machines in the country you are visiting
Reply:atm machines all over thailand, no problem in using them here, exchange rate is better then cash, but check with your bank on international fees, some are low, some high, and some have no fees. It's better then carrying a lot of cash around with you.
Reply:I use travel cheques and ATM machines. If you buy travel cheques, American Express is accepted all over Thailand whereas some other TC's will not be accepted. You also get a better exchange rate with TC's
